Our client, an audio, video, control systems design, and consulting firm that constructs and delivers themed experiences, has an immediate need for a Video Engineer. In this role, the Video Engineer will be responsible for the engineering of video systems and subsystems. They will work closely with Systems Designers and Project Management, and provide engineering solutions that meet their client’s creative vision and needs. In addition, the Video Engineer will draw on resources from the Engineering and Design Documentation groups to create, specify, document, and deliver compelling display solutions that are innovative, and built upon a solid foundation of rigorous engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Video Systems design, engineering, and validation, based on understanding of customer input and in collaboration with Systems Designer
  • Create engineering solutions including video projection map studies, direct view pixel maps, and hybrid media layouts
  • Specify appropriate display technologies, media servers, video transport systems, and media workflows
  • Create engineering documentation such as wiring documents, block diagrams, location and mounting plans, equipment schedules (incl. size, weight, electrical reqs., HVAC reqs.), theory of operations, operations and maintenance manuals
  • Create and review technical documentation for assembly, use, maintenance, and disposal of electronic systems
  • Document and review design requirements and suggested tolerances, and evaluate materials and parts
  • Design/Document/Review electronic systems and components like circuits, displays, and sensors
  • Interface with clients to understand project needs and requirements which includes building collaborative relationships with clients and stakeholders, lead client meetings, and coordinate with management on change order preparation as needed
  • Interface and coordinate with other staff (design, project management, production) as required
  • Contribute to development of company engineering design and documentation standards
  • Training and mentoring junior engineering staff
  • Production, field installation, and integration
  • Direct, coordinate, and support FAT for video displays
  • Perform mission critical field installation tasks such as direct installers, occasional installation of equipment (as required), equipment configuration (as required), testing and adjusting equipment, projector / display calibration, media installation, Show Control Programming support,  Media Server File development, and interface with clients and stakeholders
  • Contribute to client warranty and technical support efforts
  • Act as subject matter expert for installed projects, providing guidance and information to technical support staff
  • Answer and respond to warranty and technical support inquiries, occasionally, as required

  • Computer Aided Drafting and Modeling Software (e.g. AutoCAD, Sketchup, Revit, Bluebeam)
  • MS Office/GSuite apps
  • 3rd Party sand Proprietary video mapping software (Mapping Matter)
  • Strong working knowledge of various projection and LED display products and capabilities including:
  • Equipment database applications
  • Project management applications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with full benefits, located in the Burbank, CA area. Annual salary in the $80k to $120k range DOE.
