I’m going to the 80’s Prom Party: A benefit to end cancer

My babysitter, Lisa Smalley

I’m a child of the 90’s, but tonight I’m going to reminisce about the great years I spent in the 80’s, being 1-10 years old.  Good times!

The 80’s Prom Party at V Lounge will be a benefit to help end cancer.  According to their Facebook page:

Come dressed to impress with your best taffeta dress or ruffled shirt, as this promises to be the best 80’s prom party you’ve ever attended. Besides blasting Bon Jovi, Prince, Madonna and Journey the event will feature an Dope MCs (covers of old school 80s hip hop) and Metal Shop, a tribute band to the hair spray bands of the 80s and DJ sets in between. The venue will play host to more than 600 partiers, and admission–$30– will include prom pictures, gift bag, and an awesomely good time.

100% of proceeds will go to support the UCLA Oncology Department which directly funds ongoing research to end a vicious disease. The event not only offers a seriously good time, but plenty of good karma.

That’s what I’m talking about.  I’m going to dress like Crockett from Miami Vice (because it’s something I can do without hitting up Goodwill, and I’ve seen the show on DVD).  And I think I remember my babysitter playing some music in the 80’s, so I can’t wait to dance to it now that I can walk!

Brian Laesch is still considering dressing as He-Man tonight.  It’s what he remembers most of the 80’s.
